Notable mostly for the introduction of Xavier St. Cloud, For Tomorrow We Die shows how one Immortal makes his living. Xavier is quite charming to his victims. They don't seem to realize their peril until it is too late, and poison gas is playing its murderous role.
Unfortunately for Xavier, he can't seem to avoid admitting his sins in confession to Darius. Unfortunately for Darius, he can't break the seal of the confessional when the cops come looking for that murdering thug. Fortunately for Darius and Duncan, Duncan can guess what Darius can't say openly.
Anyhow, Xavier offers an exhibit to Tessa's art show, not telling her, of course, that a surprise hidden inside will go off during the show and pretty much ruin the event by killing everyone. Duncan, who just can't seem to stay out of the clutches of Inspector Clouse ... uh .. LeBrun, Figures It All Out barely in the nick of time and saves the day.
He confronts Xavier, whose hand sacrfices itself in a noble gesture and jumps into the river (where to this day, it is trying to grow itself a new Xavier). Duncan tries to find Xavier, but is unsuccessful, which is fortunate for the writers who bring him back in later episodes.
Questions:
1. Don't Tessa and Duncan ever lock the door on that barge? People are always barging right in, which is a pun or would be if it weren't so obvious.
2. Why does Tessa always screech at Duncan when he's trying to do something like save an entire room full of people by tearing a rare artifact apart?
3. Everyone who thinks Inspector LeBrun has it bad for Duncan raise their hand.
4. I have some questions about the timing of Xavier's succumbing to his own poison gas and being able to revive and go about his business while it is still, apparently, lethal ... but I'm gonna let that pass. Assuming poetic license here.
5. Aren't you expecting a question about Duncan's pants about here? Make one up. Points for originality.
