Highlander: the Series

The Beast Below

Okey dokey.

The hunchback of Notre Dame ... no ... uh ... okay ... the phantom of the opera falls in love with this singer woman (Carolyn) who is making a Big Comeback and doing her darnedest to alienate every single person who meets her.

Richie's latest girlfriend is a backup singer, and Carolyn doesn't like her at all because she's got talent up the wazoo and is a Real Threat.

The phantom (Ursa) kills the manager of the group. Turns out Ursa is Immortal and Duncan has rescued him from persons with pitchforks and other Agrarian Instruments of Destruction before. [note: Duncan looked totally HOT in the flashback, with all that hair and ...]

So La Carolyn tries to talk Ursa into killing Richie's girlfriend, but Ursa just takes her into the bowels of the opera and sets her there.

Duncan and Richie rescue the girlfriend. Richie gets off some really funny lines about their searching underground. Carolyn gets way pissed that Ursa didn't kill the girlfriend, so sets Ursa upon Duncan, who seems to have his sword handy.

They fight, but no one dies yet. La Carolyn dies in a tragic automobile accident (I think Tessa was the driver, but don't quote me on that.) And Duncan returns Ursa to the abbey so he can live happily ever after.

Questions:

1. Comment upon the fashion sensibilities demonstrated by Carolyn.

2. Comment upon why Ursa just didn't kill Carolyn outright and relieve our misery.

3. Richie doesn't pick 'em for brains, does he?

4. Immortals skate on sliding slate. Say that 3 times really fast.

5. How many more episodes before The Zone?

6. What did Ursa do with Carolyn's body after she died?

7. Who would play Carolyn in the movie about her life?

8. Were Duncan's pants entirely unimportant to the dramatic impact of this episode?

9. Wasn't that a great wig in the flashback, though?
