Highlander: the Series

Eye of the Beholder

A couple of well-used plots: Richie infatuated with a beautiful woman and Duncan having to do There Can Be Only One over the body of a former friend.

Designer Piton is a man who appreciates beauty. He steals beauty. He cherishes beauty and he is not beyond killing beauty to keep its moment of magnificence fresh in his mind. He's an Immortal, of course, a designer of beautiful clothing for beautiful women. His mortal girlfriend Cynthia makes the mistake of discovering some stuff that he shouldn't have had, and he kills her.

Her friend Maya takes her place, and Richie falls for Maya. Maya figures out that Piton killed Cynthia. Richie kind of harrasses Piton and makes an enemy of him. Piton tries to kill Maya and Richie. Duncan intervenes. Quickening. Duncan weeps cruel tears.

Questions.

1. Amanda is a "charming" thief, but Piton is a ruthless thief. We're supposed to like one and not the other. Is their only difference the degree to which each is willing to murder?

2. Fruits de mer ... seafood salad or fruit salad? Would Richie not be familiar with shrimp, coming as he does from the Pacific Northwest? I know he prefers a cheeseburger and fries, but shrimp is not that exotic. Or is it?

3. This quiz is remarkable for its lack of mention of the significance of Duncan's pants. Do you appreciate this?

4. In Seacouver the parade of Richie's girlfriends shows girls of a similar type: plain-spoken, long curly dark hair, independent, street tough. In Paris he goes for model types. Change in taste or change in available actresses?

5. Piton had pretty good hair potential. Not bad looking in any respect. Did that ***doom*** him to become a K'Immie or was he a K'Immie in spite of his good looks?

6. Duncan seems to attract evil-doers and ne'er-do-wells. Discuss.
