Rape & Revenge! Ahhhhh. Young Lori is raped by an especially arrogant young man named Mark, who is the son of an old friend of Tessa's. Tessa, Mac, and Richie are guests in the home of Mark and his father Allan, and get involved in the defense of Mark. Mac has seen the wrong man executed before so is especially eager not to have Mark executed by Lori's stepfather Colonel Bellian, who also happens to be an Immortal.
Mark proves over and over again what a jerk he is, besides being a rapist and a craven coward. Lori proves that she has a level head on her shoulders, figuring out that her stepfather is more interested in satisfying his need for revenge than avenging her honor.
After a siege of Allan and Mark's house that reminds me ever-so-much of the flick Home Alone (for some reason), Duncan and Bellian have it out, but Duncan doesn't take Bellian's head. Mark decides (for some reason) that he has the right to kill the father of the girl he raped, so he aims a gun at the father and is killed by Lori (remember, I said she has a level head on her shoulders.
Questions:
1. If Romeo and Juliet were "star-crossed lovers", what were Lori and Mark? [extra credit for creativity in expressing the concepts of "foul" and "reprehensible" in reference to Mark].
2. Mac worked very hard to keep Colonel Bellian from killing Mark. Do you think he was especially dis-satisfied that Lori managed to take revenge on her own behalf?
3. Duncan was Tessa's protector as Colonel Bellian was Lori's protector. Would Duncan have been so eager to let the law take its course if Mark had attacked Tessa? Point to ponder: Mark was mortal, which would *normally* put him under Duncan's protection.
4. This was the French countryside. Colonel Bellian saw no problem with setting siege to Mark's house. Is this typical French behavior? Will no one investigate the deaths? Will Lori even be questioned in regards to her shooting Mark? (I will bring up this same sort of question later in Pharaoh's Daughter, in which Constantine's wife was buried, apparently with no police investigation, after Nefertiri murdered her)>
5. Which plays a greater role in this episode: Duncan's hair or Duncan's pants?
