Highlander: the Series

The Watchers

He knows when you've been sleeping,

He knows when you're awake.

He knows when you've been bad or good

....and he's taking notes.

Voyeurs R Us is the ancient organization devoted to watching the Immortals, recording their deeds, and occasionally lopping off a head or two. After they whack Darius, and try to behead Fitzcairn, Duncan is pissed off in a major way ... so he leaves Paris, searching for the Watchers. Eventually, he and Joe discover each other. Joe seems rather happy to have been found, for some unknown reason. The evil renegade Watcher Horton is not quite so happy to have been found, and takes it all out on his future son-in-law by tossing him over the balcony railing ... much to the dismay of his daughter who rather liked the fellow. It just doesn't pay to get in Horton's way.

It all culminates in the Big Battle in which the daughter really puts a cramp in the action. She doesn't want Duncan to kill her father Horton. She doesn't want Horton to kill anyone else either, but he shoots Mac who retaliates by stabbing him with his katana. This is Horton's First Death. More or less.

Questions:

1. Horton is something akin to South Park's Kenny. Why doesn't anyone shout "you bastard" after Horton "dies"?

2. Horton is also something akin to the Immortals he vows to destroy. Shouldn't he have committed suicide at some point?

3. If Joe had been Duncan's Watcher for years and years, why wasn't he watching Horton perpetrate his foul misdeeds in Paris? Dereliction of duty? Does Duncan have a second Watcher we know nothing about? A third? 4. There's something I love about this episode. Could it be ... Duncan's Hair?

5. Tessa and Richie seem to be getting along very well these days ... camping in the car and all. What was that all about, anyways?

6. The Final Jeopardy Answer is: "Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod!"
