Patterns and parallels here. Look for them. This episode is just loaded with them. Take notes. There *will* be a quiz.
Ceirdwyn is a warrior. From a Celtic warrior people, she is a fierce fighter, ready with a sword, devoted to the welfare of her people. Sound like anyone we know? Eventually, she becomes an innkeeper, and provides shelter to Duncan, Bonnie Prince Charlie and his entourage as they escape from Scotland. Duncan decides to stay behind and wreak a little vengeance on those who have so brutally savaged the Scottish people. Ceirdwyn convinces Duncan to lay off vengeance, arguing that there must be a point at which the violence stops.
In modern days, Ceirdwyn and her mortal husband are killed in the street during a robbery attempt. Ceirdwyn, reverting to her warrior training, goes after the perpetrators.
Paolo's brother is a member of the gang who killed Ceirdwyn's husband, and Paolo is afraid that Ceirdwyn will kill his brother. He tries to pick Duncan's pocket at the racetrack where Richie is again making interminable circuits of that track, but the wily Scot detects the theft and apprehends the boy. Duncan gets involved in the Ceirdwyn Problem and seeks her out to try and convince her to lay off. She agrees, but the gang is already taking measures to get her. They invade her house. Ceirdwyn could have done them in, but she doesn't and lets the police handle it.
Ceirdwyn and Duncan compare notes, and Ceirdwyn convinces Duncan to let Dr Anne know he's still alive and see what happens. Richie dies on the racetrack and has to make his nekkid way back to the barge for clothes and comfort, trying to convince himself that it was not his fault that his crash also killed his adversary Basil.
"Hello, Duncan?!"
Questions.
1. Before I forget, didn't Palo have the most beautiful eyes and eyelashes? Pity and a shame to put such eyes on a guy. He'll break hearts without having to bat an eyelash. Duncan MacLeod would weep for such eyes. Maybelline would commit corporate hara kiri for his secret. Anyone here want to volunteer to take him home and raise him right? Anyone? Anyone?
2. There are lots of parallels between the backgrounds, lives and personalities of Ceirdwyn and Duncan MacLeod. Discuss.
3. I'm guessing Ceirdwyn was using dark auburn eyebrow pencil to draw those designs on her face. Did they enhance or detract from her natural beauty?
4. Prince Charlie looked pretty fine in that dress, eh? Seems to make the hair/pants question kind of unnecessary.
5. Weren't we really happy when Anne answered that phone? Describe your exact state of happiness.
