"Duncan!?"
"Yo babe, I'm living here in Paris. Hop a jet and I'll meet you at the airport. 'Kay?"
So Duncan waits nervously in the Paris airport for Dr Anne. He is right to be nervous, because Dr Anne forgets all about him in the excitement of having a fellow passenger drop at her feet. In fact, she ignores him until he confronts her at the hospital. He shows her all the stuff he has collected in 400 years of active Immortality. He does not have to do the "temporary death" show for her, because she's already seen him dead. She wants to find an answer, but he discourages this.
They get involved in the problems of the sick passenger, who is a drug courier who swallowed too many drugs. Which brings us to Kristov. Duncan and Kristov have a past. Duncan is welcomed into the camp of Kristov and his dancing Cossacks, but parts ways with them when they attack some rather peaceable farmers.
Kristov is now a great artiste and drug czar and orders the death of his courier, Tasha, who loves him. Of course, she loves him. You think she'd do that for money? Duncan interferes with one attempt and is shot for his efforts. Dr Anne has to rip his shirt open to see that he's already pretty much healed up. She doesn't ask where the bullet went, which is what I would ask, but Dr Anne's mind does not operate in the same ... Dr Anne is not the ... Dr Anne's curiosity does not wind in this direction.
Kristov kidnaps Richie and threatens to kill him if Duncan doesn't kill Tasha. Richie spends his time insulting Kristov, which the great artiste resents. In fact, Richie just doesn't wait long enough for Duncan to rescue him. Duncan comes to the rescue, but by that time, Richie has beheaded Kristov and its Quickenin' Time.
Duncan and Dr Anne drop Richie off at the airport. Time for him to go.
Questions:
1. Dr Anne is a really really dedicated doctor, isn't she? Do we think the doctors at the Paris hospital probably thought she should go back to America and mind her own damn business? Would she welcome the interference and "guidance" of French doctors who just happened to fly into the Seacouver airport with unsuccessful drug couriers?
2. Kristov ... Kristin ... separated at birth?
3. This is the beheading for which I was cheering Richie on. Wasn't it great? Duncan arriving on the scene, all set to save the day, and Richie already enjoying a richly deserved Quickening. Any second thoughts or angst about the death of Kristov?
4. Why do I believe that if Richie had ever met Tasha at a bar, they would have dated?
5. Did Dr Anne rip Duncan's shirt open to examine him for gunshot trauma or because it had been so long?
6. I really liked those Cossacks before they descended on those farmers and started killing them. Was it a lack in their hair or pants that made them so war-like?
