Christine Salzer is busily playing show 'n' tell with Clancy the newspaper publisher while everyone else is angsting over The End of The Game As We Know It. Well, not quite everyone. Kalas steps in and kills Christine and Clancy, and grabs the Watcher CD for good measure and future blackmail.
We see some more of Mac's history with Amanda. This time she's in the harem of a sultan in Constantinople, 1753. She's stolen some jewels and been sentenced to have her hands cut off. Duncan rescues her. Amanda thinks she and Duncan should leap off the Eiffel tower as a sort of lark, since they're going to be exposed as Immortals soon anyway. Duncan thinks they should tango up there instead, and they do.
Kalas offers to take Duncan's head in exchange for keeping the Watcher CD off the airwaves. Duncan spends some time doing angst, his drug of choice, and he and Amanda whisper some sentiments into each other's shell-like ears.
Methos, Amanda and Joe await below as Duncan meets Kalas for the last time on the Eiffel Tower. The two battle and Kalas exults in his winning position. Even if Duncan takes Kalas' head, he will be exposed as an Immortal as will all the others. Duncan !!thinks!! The Eiffel Tower. The World's Biggest Lightning Rod!! He strikes the fatal blow, and as the Quickening descends upon him, he directs the electrical bolts to where they'll do the most good, including Kalas' computer, where the Watcher CD is destroyed! Hurrah! Hurrah! Kalas is finally toast.
Duncan and Amanda wonder if they should take back all those things they said to each other, but decide "not now".
Questions:
1. The Eiffel Tower was certainly a character in this episode, though it wasn't actually a speaking role. Dance studio, fighting salle, and lightning rod. Can we think of any actual Highlander chracters, living or dead, who performed with less finesse?
2. Kalas was a bad guy because he murdered Christine and Clancy. Was Joe a bad guy because he tried to murder Christine?
3. Was Kalas the evillest bad guy we ever encounter in Highlander: the Series? Or was he an also-ran compared to the Horsemen?
4. The Tango Scene: love it? Was it as good as watching Amanda shake her chestal regions in the harem scene?
5. Do Methos and Amanda share a history or a future?
