The Ransom of Richard Redstone

Bond, James .... uh ... no, it's the fabulously wealthy Richard Redstone ... uh ... guess again. It's Richie Ryan who rented a tux, stole a fancy car and set out to live the fantasy.

Richie plays the part of Richard Redstone at a casino so convincingly that he attracts the attention of destitute heiress Marina LeMartin, who drugs him and kidnaps him.

Richie awakens at her chateau, tied to the bedposts, but not for fun and games. Appears that Marina thinks he's rich and ripe for the plucking ... ransom, that is. She needs his ransom because the owner of the casino, Carlo Capodimonte, loaned her family some money against the chateau a while back, and now he wants his money ... or her.

Duncan has been dealing with the car dealer from whom Richie stole the fancy automobile, and goes to the casino to see what's what.

Duncan has been to the casino before. He and 1978 girlfriend Desiree were robbed there right after a big win.

Duncan supplies the cash to save the chateau, but it's too, too late. The deadline has passed. Capodimonte now wants BIG BIG BUCKS or Marina.

Marina decides that she must go to Capodimonte. Duncan sees the watch that was stolen from him during the '78 robbery on Capodimonte's wrist and comes up with a plan.

Duncan and Richie go to Capodimonte's office and confront him. Capodimonte shoots Duncan and kills him. Richie blackmails Capodimonte and Capodimonte gives him a release from the loan on the chateau.

Duncan and Richie return to the chateau, where Duncan has a bright idea during dinner. He goes to the chateau's wine cellar and knocks a hole in the wall. Inside is a whole bunch of really expensive wine. Now the Chateau LeMartin will not be lost to creditors ever again.

Questions:

1. Marina's grandpa was quite old enough to have known about a secret cache of wines walled up to protect them from the Nazis. Why was he so surprised when Duncan went spelunking for spirits?

2. The artist-in-residence seems to be the last in a long line of artists supported by the LeMartins. How bad would an artist have to be to accept the patronage of the destitute LeMartins?

3. We are going to quietly bypass the usual hair/pants question, except to ask: in how many episodes does the Disco Duncan wigs make an appearance?

4. Try to reconcile the smooth sophistcated Duncan MacLeod of the past couple of centuries with the Disco Dervish Duncan in 1978. Does he just occasionally gotta boogie-oogie-oogie till he just can't boogie no more?

5. Carlo Capodimonte is a good strong K'Immie name. What happened? He just not get whacked that first time yet? He really doesn't seem Immortal material to me, but who would have guessed with Benny Carbassa or Danny Cimoli?
